About Us

     Dr. Borges attended medical school in his native country of Brazil. In 1968 he moved to the states and completed his surgical and urological training at William Beumont Hospital in Royal Oak Michigan. He is certified by the America Board of Urology and is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

     Dr. Borges was recruited to the St. Petersburg area by Dr.’s Newman and Insoft, founders of one of the oldest and most prominent urological practices in the area. Upon Dr. Borges’s arrival to the practice in 1973 along with practicing general urology he began specializing in men’s erectile dysfunction and founded the Florida Impotency Center. Dr. Borges is a renowned surgeon worldwide specializing in penile prosthesis surgery.

     Dr. Borges has resided in the St. Pete area since 1973 with his wife and children and enjoys tennis and golf in his spare time.

     Dr. Heron graduated from Denison University with highest honors and attended medical school at The Ohio State University and graduated in 1989. He then completed a 6 year surgery and urology residency program at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia.

     Dr. Heron joined Pinellas Urology in 1995 and along with his urological surgical skills brought his expertise in performing research studies to the practice. He is certified by the American Board of Urology. He has multiple publications in books and urology journals.

     Dr. Heron resides in the St. Pete area with his wife and 3 children, is active in his church and in his spare time enjoys golf, family activities and is an avid Ohio State “Buckeye” fan.

     Dr. Kapadia was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia where his parents still live. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA where he was named one of the Outstanding College Students of America and was on the National Dean’s list. He then attended medical school at the University of California, San Francisco which is consistently ranked among the top 5 medical schools in the country by U.S. News and World Report. Dr. Kapadia completed his urology training at the University of Southern California under the most renowned cancer surgeon Donald Skyner. He consistently earned high in-service examination scores and had the nation’s top score in 1997.

     Dr. Kapadia joined Pinellas Urology in 2000. Dr. Kapadia added his training in surgical techniques and research to help the practice develop into a progressive and innovative Urology practice. He is one of the few surgeons in the Tampa Bay area that is able to offer continent diversion surgery to bladder cancer patients. Dr. Kapadia is certified by the American Board of Urology.

     Dr. Kapadia resides in the St. Pete area with his wife and 3 children and in his spare time enjoys playing tennis, basketball and board games with his children.

     Dr. Zhou attended medical school in his native country of China. In 1991 he moved to Florida and attended the University of Miami School of Medicine Research program in the department of Physiology and Molecular Biology. He completed his surgical training at the University of Pennsylvania in 1996 and his urological training at the University of Nebraska in 2002. He is certified by the American Board of Urology.

     Dr. Zhou joined Pinellas Urology in 2002. His arrival added to the already progressive approach of the Urology practice with his training in laparoscopic and neurostimulators. He began specializing in InterStim Therapy for the treatment of urinary control. Dr. Zhou is the Chief of the Department of Surgery at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg and is Vice-Chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. Petersburg General Hospital.

     Dr. Zhou resides in the St. Pete area and in his spare time enjoys spending time with his family.
